“A false balance is an abomination” – Manasseh joins Mahama in calling out Martin Amidu

Freelance investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni has backed ex-president John Dramani Mahama in his criticism of the Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu over the contents of his corruption assessment of the controversial Agyapa Deal.

Mr. Martin Amidu in the report included a side statement that the flagbearer of the NDC, J9hn Mahama is the Government Official 1 mentioned in the Airbus scandal, a statement that was criticized by an angry John Mahama who called Mr. Amidu “stupid” and a ‘coward’ for including a statement unrelated to the topic of the report.

Manasseh Azuri Awuni in a post on social media points out that while H. E. Mahama’s insults may have been harsh, it didn’t make sense for the special Prosecutor to include the the Airbus statement in the Agyapa report because it wasn’t a general corruption assessment report.

John Mahama may have sounded too harsh, but I also fail to see any sense in why the Airbus issue should be put in the Agyapa Royalties corruption risk assessment by the Special Prosecutor. The two issues are completely dissimilar. The persons involved are totally different. And the assessment report was not a general article on corruption in Ghana, in which one may draw examples from different cases. It wasn’t even about general issues of corruption in the Akufo-Addo administration. So there was absolutely no need to corrupt the Agyapa assessment with political fodder for equalisation. It’s unfortunate and, in the eyes of the reasonable person, will end up hurting Martin Amidu more than Mahama. “A false balance is abomination to the LORD…” Proverbs 11:1” he wrote
