“Apologise within 24 hours or we will sue you” – MTNGhana to Salma Mumin over momo fraud claims

Mobile Telecommunications Network of Ghana (MTN Ghana) has threatened to sue Ghanaian actress and entrepreneur, Salma Mumin over claims GHC10,000 was taken from her business momo account without her approval.

Salma Mumin in a post on social media claimed she woke up to find the said amount missing from her account. She went on to allege that it was MTN workers who had stolen the money and that she wouldn’t give MTN peace on the internet if her money wasn’t found.

Well, MTN in a statement released on social media says they have done a thorough audit of her merchant account which reveals that she didn’t have the said amount in that account in the first place. MTN stated that the actress herself knows of this.

The company asked her to apologize within 24 hours for bringing their name into disrepute using same medium and given same prominence as her damaging post.

We refer to an instagram post published on the 22nd day of October, 2020@salmamumin. The post read, MTN KEEP SAYING NOBODY CAN WITHRAW YOUR MOMO ACCOUNT WITHOUT YOUR CONCERN BUT JUST FOUND OUT MY over 10,000 cedis from my business momo account has been taken… MTN IS NOT SAFE ANYMORE”

The post further sought to allege that MTN Staff have stolen the poster’s money. We wish to state categorically and For the records that the claims made in the post are false and misleading to the public and the poster’s Instagram followers. As @Salmamumin is very much aware, the said amount was not in her MoMo Merchant Wallet and no money had been taken from her MoMo Merchant Wallet as claimed.

She has been engaged on this leading to the apparent deletion of the said post. By this rejoinder, we demand that @Salmamumin immediately apologize to MTN Ghana within 24 hours of this publication. The apology must state clearly that her claims that MTN Ghana had faken money from her wallet was False and given same prominence as that of her initial post failing which the business will be compelled to take legal action against her. Please be advised accordingly.”
