A Ghanaian story is told of a ground squirrel and its younglings who went to a farm to chew hot pepper. While chewing, one of the younglings, obviously feeling the hotness of the pepper after chewing a few posed a question to its mum. “Mum do we have to do this? We’re not eating this pepper, neither not sweet and it burns, so why are we just chewing it away even though it’s hot and hurts?
The mum’s response has a lot in similarity with what this post is about. The mother ground squirrel responded “Son, we’re chewing it away just to hurt the farmer”.
It is a known fact that as humans living in a community, there are some bad nuts who would hate someone for no apparent reason and for whatever reason they decide to rationalize their actions by.
While these people may have their own reasons for harboring malice against others, sometimes to the extent of wishing such people didn’t exist, the counter benefit to such people certainly isn’t a tangible one as their actions will not automatically apportion to them, any property of their victim.
Premised on this, a netizen has quizzed why such people decide to paint others black when when it is an appreciable fact that doing so doesn’t put such persons in any better light in the eyes of society.
“If painting others black doesn’t paint you white, why waste your paint?” @stritboy quizzed in tweet.
