NPP Upper West Chairman SB Kangberee completes media tour in the region

The Upper West Regional Chairman, Mr SB Kangbere has successfully completed his media tour today at Pupeli FM. He first met the correspondences and reporters of Citi fm/TV, Joy fm/TV, Metropolitan TV, GNA, Daily Graphic, Ghanaian times and N TV.

He proceeded to GBC/Radio and finally finished at Pupeli Radio. In all the meetings, Chairman Kangbere thanked the media practiceners for their contribution to development over the years and for their help in maintaining peace in the upper West Region.

He advised the media men and women to do their work with professionalism, such that they’ll be able to meet their core mandate to educate, inform and entertain the population.

He encouraged them to do more in the areas of public education and sensitization so that vices like substance abuse, indiscriminate bush burning and non Selective felling of trees.

Chairman Kangbere drummed home the point that, the media, which is regarded as the fourth estimate is a powerful sector that oversees the three traditional arms of government – the judiciary, the legislature and the executive. He said media practioners shouldn’t under rate their importance in the democratic space. According to him, the works of the government will not be seen or known by the people but for the media.

The heavy weight Chairman, as he is affectionately known, admonished them to run programmes that can solve the problems of society instead of those that’ll stoke fire. He said their microphones, recorders and cameras are louder and more powerful than the police barriers as no one, particularly criminals will do everything to dodge them.

He used the opportunity to remind the journalists about the December 7th presidential and parliamentary elections. He advised them not to allow anyone to use their platforms to foment trouble before, during and after the elections.

On their part, the media houses thanked Chairman Kangbere wholeheartedly for the wonderful initiative. They said they were awed by that gesture because of his position as the Chairman of the ruling party who’s quite a busy person and of his age.

In all his stops, they all said the programme was the first of its kind in the region. They encouraged Chairman to make it a continuous practice to engage the media because they believe that’ll bring unity between the party and the media. They took the opportunity to appeal to the Chairman to advise other politicians from other political parties to emulate his example.

As was said by the first batch of media groups Mr Kangbere met on the 27th, they said they’re not affiliated to any political party and will partner all political groups towards national development. They also said the parties should try as much as possible and create a cordial relationship with the media so that, they’ll be trust amongst them.
