Suspect and three policemen arrested over phone shop robbery

Three Policemen and a suspect have been arrested by Asokwa police in the Ashanti Regional capital Kumasi over a break in of a phone shop located at Amakom near Brigina Restaurant.

According to information gathered by Ghanatribune.com, the shop owner, Dr. Abeiku Ghansah reported the break in to the police at Asokwa on Sunday 15th November, 2020, complaining that 20 mobile phones of various brands and an HP laptop all valued at GHC68,000 was stolen from his shop.

Police form the Asokwa divisional command visited the scene for evidence and upon intelligence and arrested suspect Pious Losoya Bayor at Moshie Zongo on 16th November, 2020 and upon searching his room retrieved three mobile phones and three tablets which was identified by the complainant as his.

Upon interrogation, suspect Losoya Bayor revealed that on his way from stealing the phones, he was arrested by three Police officers, identified as Sergeant Charles Antwi, Prince Owusu and Timothy Azure all of the Manhyia district police station B who took eight of the phones and money stolen from the complainant and let him go.

Eight iphones and GHC3,000 were retrieved from the police officers. The policemen and the suspect are being processed for prosecution.
